Google Maps is one of the applications that can get us out of various troubles. Just as it can help us to know the location of restaurants or cafes, this technological tool is also functional to know how far or how to get to the house of family or friends.
Simply by placing the address in the app’s search engine, it informs us of the shortest routes and the approximate time depending on the vehicle we use. Although to do this, it stores information that allows Google to record where we are.
Thus, Google Maps stores all the data provided by our mobile phone, supported by the GPS tool that most devices have by default.
And perhaps it might seem that it is not important, but given the fear of many people of being victims of information theft, the idea that a platform has its routes saved can cause discomfort, although there is the possibility of eliminating this data from Google Maps .
Clear location history
The first step so that Google Maps no longer has your location history is to delete it. For this you must open the application and go to “Google Maps Routes”. There are two ways to do it, either from the mobile application or on the computer.
If you want to do it from the mobile device, according to the instructions provided by Google, the first thing is to open the application that is installed by default, so that later you can select the account from which you want to delete the locations by clicking on the photo. By pressing “More”, you have to enter the “Settings and privacy” option, where the option to permanently delete your location history will appear.
You can also delete the data of the Google Maps locations for only a period of time or, failing that, for specific days, for which the interested party has to repeat all the steps, with the exception of now selecting the period option of time or day you want to delete.
Turn off Location History
One option for the Google Maps user to avoid having to manually delete what they store is to deactivate the so-called “ Location History ”. By having this Maps function activated, you can save all the places you visit or that you searched for in the geolocator app, so if someone does not want to waste time deleting all their user data, it is best to turn off the function.
The way to do it from the cell phone is to go to the device settings and simply press the option that says “Location history”, making the Maps application no longer able to store the places you visited or searched for within it.
It is important to mention that the “Location History” is deactivated by default, so if you do not want your data to be stored , it is best not to activate this function on your mobile device.
Turn off the cell phone location
One of the most radical options that a user can take so that their data is not saved by Google Maps is to permanently deactivate the location in the GPS manually. However, Google still obtains data on where users are located according to the pages they consult in the search engine, so the most effective options for not registering the places visited are those mentioned above.
