In Humankind you cannot miss the opportunity to expand, since you can do it both peacefully and battling, although everything will be little by little, since you cannot attack your neighbors in any way. However, and first of all, it is important that you have controlled the stability of your cities and have known how to prioritize resources.
From the moment you decide to start expanding by battling, you have to take into account different factors that are important so as not to deviate from your path: support in war is one of the most important along with skirmishes, how to face wars and the consequences that all this can entail.
Tips and keys for combat in Humankind
Get war support
To start attacking your neighbors and start expanding by battling in Humankind, the most important thing is to have the support of your population to do so, in addition to not attacking non-stop so that they do not consider you a traitorous and tyrant empire. War Support is a mechanic that displays the support of your population within war, redundancy is worth, both in current and potential wars. This support is represented from 0 to 100, with 0 being a population against the war and 100 with extreme support. If, for example, you start fighting with 0 support, you will lose the war and your opponents they will enforce their terms.
In this section, the complaints of the system that influences such support. If one of the other empires claims your territory next to their borders, you will receive a complaint against them, since your citizens did not like their decision and will start supporting you for a war. This you can accept or directly reject it. If you refuse and have enough support to declare war, you can decide to declare it on the spot or let it go.
Battles and military actions to watch out for
Military battles and actions can be understood in other words as skirmishes. Skirmishes can only occur in neutral territories or territories that are not linked to any city. To be able to get hold of this terrain you have to carry out different battles and military actions:
- Battles: This can happen very easily during your exploration of the entire map: you will be able to attack or prevent anything that may happen. To attack, you must have a member of your army in contact with another member of the other army in a neutral territory or slightly controlled (the latter means that there is an outpost, but it is not attached to any city). If you win this battle, it will generate more support for you for future battles.
- Pillage: you can loot districts and outposts that are not attached to any city, all with the aim of getting gold and war support. Looting an outpost will destroy it and could be useful in depriving your enemy of important territory. For example, one tactic is to loot outposts thatand they are far from their empireas this will create annoyance and they do not have time to respond.
- Expand yourself: To expand you have to know the expansionist cultures that allow you to trespass, that is, enter the territories controlled by other empires, without having to declare war.
The battles: the war begins
The moment diplomacy has failed and the AI has refused to carry out your demands, then it is a good time to start a war. To declare war you need at least 80 support, recommended, especially to have well-defined objectives. To win, you must make your enemy’s war support drop to 0 and prevent yours from doing so.
When you start a battle, you have to be clear the following objectives:
- Win the battle.
- Capture outposts.
- To sack.
- Capture the cities.
The duration It is also important, since the faster it occurs, the less time you will need to recover from it. When you have won, you can force them to comply with your terms, in addition, those terms for which you had gone to war will be added instantly to your demands at a very low cost.
Consequences to consider
You’ve won the war, but now what? Most likely, you have conquered several cities and the limit of your empire has now expanded enough, but different options also open:
- Maintain cities: just as you got them, you can also lose them. Don’t lose influence unless you can merge cities.
- Loot and destroy: if you loot the Main Square of a city, you will destroy it. This will make the territory neutral again and it will be free of an empire, so you can build an outpost on it. However, you do not have to destroy, you can also loot and claim the outpost there is to attach it to your city.
- Break free: Another option is also to free the territory so that it becomes an Independent People in your debt. It is an advantage because it does not force you to take over the city and that will be appreciated by your influence.
