TikTok and eCommerce
Recently, it was revealed that TikTok would be planning to enter the e-commerce market after the US media, Axios, detected a series of job postings indicating that the social network would seek to build an e-commerce system. that includes a supply chain, international warehouses, among other infrastructure needs.
In this sense, according to the publication, the company would be looking for a logistics solutions manager for the design of a goods transport system, order forecasting and inventory management.
However, TikTok’s project would be to take users and content creators on its platform to make purchases in a future e-commerce business, which could resemble that of Amazon.
“The e-commerce industry has had great growth in recent years and has become a competitive space among internet companies (…) With millions of users worldwide, we believe that TikTok is an ideal platform to deliver a new and a better commerce experience for our users”, is indicated in the job offer on the LinkedIn platform.
The TikTok application requires candidates to have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, plus 5 years of experience in e-commerce logistics solutions.
The idea of generating an e-commerce experience for users, the specification of the job offered on the job platform, does not indicate that a shipping system should be developed as Amazon does.
Electronic commerce is not a novelty in this social network, since the project seeks to expand the utilities of its application for all users.
In addition, thanks to an agreement with the e-commerce company, Shopify, TikTok began the testing phase of an e-commerce-oriented functionality in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom last year.
And this is how digital platforms seek to improve their functions and gain more followers around the world.
