With these figures, considering the 4 days of bridge, a person could spend up to 6,000 pesos in this season. But how much would you earn if instead of spending on Easter, you invested that money?
The Naftrac, an ETF (exchange traded fund) that replicates the IPC, the main index of the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) and that works as a basket where all the IPC shares are found, is the main instrument operated in the country.
The Naftrac moves along with the IPC and is made up of the 35 companies with the highest value and marketability (that is, those that are sold and bought the most). Among them are América Móvil, Walmart, Grupo México, Cemex and Coca Cola Femsa, among others.
The advantages of investing in this instrument is that it allows access to greater diversification at a lower cost. If you bought each of the IPC shares, you would have to invest around 235 pesos, while a Naftrac title (which already has each of those shares) costs 54 pesos, at the close of Wednesday.
With this in mind, if a person had invested 6,000 pesos in Naftrac at Easter 2020, they would now have 9,777 pesos, that is, they would have recorded a profit of around 63%.
It is true that these comparisons are not always correct, because we are turning to the past and nobody has a crystal ball to know how investments will go in the future. But they give an idea of the potential.
To start investing it is not necessary to spend thousands of pesos, there are options in the market that allow you to open accounts from 100 or 1,000 pesos, as is the case with Kuspid or GBM. Each of the investment platforms offers different instruments to invest and they also charge different commissions, things to take into account when choosing one, but what is a rule is that it is best to do it thinking about the long term, knowing the risk level of each investor, get informed and diversify, as much as possible, the portfolio.
