The 5G, in addition to providing greater speed on mobiles, it also represents a revolution for the industry, which facilitates the creation of new applications in all types of environments, with examples that will also benefit citizens thanks to tests such as the one just concluded Vodafone at the Málaga María Zambrano train station.
Vodafone has deployed a network 5G non-commercial at the Malaga station, which has served as a test bed to test the suitability of this technology applied to environments such as passenger stations, with the execution of four use cases, framed in the initiative “Pilot 5G Andalusia” promoted by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation through Red.es.
Facial recognition via 5G to access the boarding area
Accessing the boarding area without having to show any documentation will be possible thanks to the facial recognition of users who have previously registered. It will be as easy as pass in front of the camera and.
The advantages of 5G will provide the speed and security necessary to transmit images with the necessary quality in real time, thus increasing the flow of traffic with which users go to the departure lounge.
Biometric access is based on dasGate technology, developed by dasNano and Veridas, and also allows two-factor recognition by validating the ticket associated with facial biometrics, by presenting an Aztec code.
Augmented reality to find your destiny
Another advantage that travelers would have at their disposal as soon as they enter the station, will be a guide that will take us directly to our destination, superimposing a virtual arrow on the real camera image of the mobile, which indicates the direction to follow.
The positioning and guidance inside the station is possible thanks to the use of a interactive map of spaces, created with the BIM-5G building information modeling technology developed by Ayesa for Vodafone
The use of the interactive map of BIM-5G facilities may also benefit the station’s maintenance personnel, allowing them to carry out the preventive and corrective maintenance tasks of the station, displaying the 3D model on the real image of the camera and providing access to the information related to the element to be maintained. All thanks to the fact that technology is capable of obtaining complete information on the geometry of the station, spatial relationships, geographic information and characteristics of its components.
All the modifications, both geometric and data, are made in a single source of information, the BIM model, and are automatically updated in the applications developed, which considerably facilitates the updating of information.
Wifi upgrade
The objective of this project is to provide a connection WiFi, via 5G network, to the station. WiFi connection hotspots would allow the connection of a greater number of devices without causing network congestion, especially in those areas where there is a large influx of travelers, thus improving the user experience.
Digital personnel record
If travelers will be able to enter the boarding area from the face, workers will also be able to access their respective restricted areas. It is a digital registration system and control of access and working hours of railway personnel (Adif, railway companies, maintenance, cleaning, etc.), which is also based on dasGate technology and works through a facial recognition single factor or double factor, in the latter case presenting a personal QR code.
