the pet website
Technology has come to help people with many tasks that were perhaps previously more complex. As an example, if you are looking to adopt a pet, there is a website that will match you with a furry friend based on compatibility.
PawsLikeMe, has become a popular unique pet-matching service that connects aspiring owners with cat and dog profiles. based on a personality quiz, much like what is done in the world of internet dating.
According to the site, its quiz is a “three-minute smart poll” that asks respondents about “four basic quadrants of personality,” including energy levels, confidence, focus, and independence.
They also explain that the responses a user provides help PawLikeMe create an assessment of personality, lifestyle and home that ends up being used in the pet-matching process, using an algorithm to match human respondents with their “ideal pet.”
PawsLikeMe then provides a “list of matching pets” so that users can find nearby cats and dogs that need a home.
The digital site mentions that users can also search through their matches with preference filters, location, household needs, physical traits (age, size, gender and race) and adoption groups.
It is claimed that most of the animals displayed on their website come from shelters and rescue centers.
This digital application came to provide a solution to abandoned pets and in shelters that exist in the world, where in Mexico, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics, Geography and Informatics (INEGI), there are around 23 million pets; however, 70 percent of dogs and cats are abandoned, that is, only 5.4 million live in a home and the rest live on the streets.
It’s not immediately clear how many users PawsLikeMe has or how many successful matches have been made, but its Facebook page claims that more than a million people have been matched with shelter animals for its relocation service and that users have rated its service as pet matching as “over 95 percent accurate.”
This digital application is not the only one that has emerged and become popular in recent days, or that helps animals, because there is the video game Stray that provides a fun experience while looking to help save homeless cats.
In that sense, this shows that technology is not only being used as a means of entertainment, because thanks to many programs or projects, some problems in the world have been solved.
