LEGO and Toyota Gazoo Racing have created an amazing 1: 1 scale replica of the Supra for its 35th anniversary … And it can be driven!
Everyone knows the products of LEGO and there are already many times that this brand has launched real car construction kits for motor enthusiasts. However, this time they have gone a little further and have gone out of the ordinary with a most peculiar creation: a Toyota supra functional in real size.
It is a 1: 1 scale replica that was presented just a few days ago and is on display at Legoland Japan. The reason? The acclaimed sports car from Toyota It turns 35 and the brand’s Gazoo Racing division is working with LEGO to carry out actions like this in celebration.
The result is surprising, but for this they have been necessary 480,000 pieces and some 2,400 hours of work. Only the wheels, the steering wheel, the screens, the driver’s seat and the emblems come from the real Supra and everything else has been built with parts of these famous constructions.
Of course, this is not some kind of sculpture, but it is a functional car. The doors can be opened and the lights work properly. In fact, it is possible to drive it, since it has an electric motor that allows it to reach a 27 km / h top speed. Not bad for a ‘toy’, right?
With this creation, LEGO adds yet another to its list of life-size replicas created in recent years, including a McLaren Senna and a Bugatti Chiron. Of course, if you want to get one, you should know that it is not for sale. It will be on display at Legoland Japan until October 11th and later it will be seen in some tests of the competition category Super gt.
In any case, if you want a LEGO Toyota Supra, you can always buy the conventional size kit which has been released for the ‘Speed Champions’ series. It is not nearly identical to the real car nor can it be driven, but for 20 euros you can have a Supra in your house -technically speaking-. Something is something, right?
