The Californian company Paired Power has just presented an electric vehicle recharging point with interesting qualities: it can be installed in 4 hours, it is solar and also modular. In addition, it does not need any connection to the electrical network.
In an era where the electric car is expanding at a much higher rate than the growth of the charging infrastructure, initiatives such as the one recently presented by Paired Power constitute a very interesting approach for the future.
And it is that the independent solar charger of this American company not only aims to solve the problem of complicated charging infrastructures connected to the network, but also allows the use of electric cars in remote areas to which said electrical network does not reach.
How is the Paired Power solar charger
The modular charger is called PairTree and is a transportable solar canopy with built-in electric vehicle charging capabilities.
Its versatility allows it to be used independently or connected to the electrical network, since each unit incorporates 10 bifacial solar panels of 5 kW which can also be customized with branding, lighting and media options.
Alternating current (AC) charging station provides level 2 charging and there is the ability to add 120V outlet panels to support temporary or emergency power.
PairTree is designed to optimize the charging loads of electric vehicles to offer up to 120 kilometers of daily autonomy. Also, PairTree supports the integration of up to 40 kWh of batteries of lithium iron phosphate, which allows to extend the daily range up to 370 kilometers.
“One of the biggest benefits of PairTree is that you can start uploading from day one. Electric vehicle charging is no longer an added benefit to anywhere you can park a car; it is quickly becoming a service that both citizens and average employees expect”says Tom McCalmont, CEO and co-founder of Paired Power.
“There are several reasons why site owners don’t want to wait or may have restrictions on loading grid-connected electric vehicles or conventional solar canopies, and PairTree is the solution to quickly bring any location into the future of electric vehicles.”
Adaptable and easy to install
The Paired Power charging point for electric vehicles can be installed in only 4 hours by two people and its service is managed through the Paired Powered application, developed by EVGateway.
Being a flexible design that works in various environments, PairTree can also provide emergency backup power and temporary power for particular events.
It can be used in any climatic and environmental setting and offers additional battery options. Also, can be daisy-chained with multiple units to create a charging station. The company expects to deliver the first units during the second quarter of 2023.
