The very young Iman Vellani is the absolute protagonist of this Marvel series that will reach Disney+ on June 8, in which she plays Kamala Khan, a young Muslim woman who discovers something that will change her life.
With the trailer just landed, we’re already looking forward to hearing how will this new heroine fit into the great spider web that the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasand after seeing the cover letter over and over again, we already know that it is going to be a success.
Bisha K. Ali is the project’s chief writer (she has also participated in the wonderful Lokifor example) and in the direction we find Harmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Meera Menon, Adil El Arbi and Billall Fallah.
The trailer starts with The Weeknd (period for Marvel), and the first thing we see is the protagonist, Kamala, a teenager who is just that: teenager. something in the style of I never, but with the touch of comics and the aura of superheroes.
Who is kamala khan
Kamala Khan is a young woman of Muslim origin living in New Jersey who first appeared in the comics in Captain Marvel #14, in August 2013. Created by Sana Amanat, Stephen Wacker, G. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona, she was Marvel’s first Muslim character to have their own comics and now these have been adapted into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Is considered by experts as one of the best comic characters of the new Marvel additionsand if you don’t know him yet, you can check out his first solo comic, Unusual.
Ms. Marvel 1. Out Of The Normal (100% marvel)
To make a small sketch of the character, I will tell you that Kamala is an American-Pakistani teenager, a fan of the Avengers, she is in high school and her idol is Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel. He fantasizes about becoming her while trying to survive in a reality where It doesn’t always fit in because it’s branded as weird (something with which we feel fully identified).
And if life as a teenager wasn’t complicated enough (look at the euphoria), now she discovers that she is a superhero.
A look at Ms. Marvel
In the comics, Ms. Marvel is a polymorphous being with the ability to change her shape at will (such as stretching and compressing her arms), and whose ability, added to the laws of physics, gives her greater strength, for example. She discovers that she has an “Inhuman” gene (linked to the saga of the inhumans) but in the series it seems that the powers have varied slightly and the origin also because in her own words, they are “cosmic” powers.
Inhumans. Comprehensive (COMPLETE MARVEL)
In fact, in the comics the bracelet that appears in the trailer is a family heirloom and in the series it seems that finding it in the attic and putting it on unleashes its power.
With this change, perhaps greater coherence is sought with the entire Marvel Universe that has already been created in the cinema and the series, but what is clear is that after seeing this trailer, we really, really want it.
