One of the great problems of social networks is the strong harassment that occurs in them, which causes that even some of them are launched emphasizing the good vibes. This has led companies to think about how to protect users, and one of the latest fruits on Twitter is the new ‘Safe Mode‘, which according to those of Jack Dorsey contributes features that can help us reduce unwanted interactions.
It is a function that, once activated by the user, Block accounts that the social network believes use potentially harmful language such as insults or hateful comments for seven days. But the thing does not stop there, because messages from accounts that make too repetitive mentions will not have visibility either.
In order not to block followers we normally talk to, Twitter takes into account the relationship with the analyzed account, either to be followed or to be commented on frequently.
So you can activate it
If you want to block for a week the possibility of receiving this type of comments, which Twitter mentions as “disruptive”, you should go to “Privacy & Security“in the Settings of the Twitter application. There you will find the possibility to activate the” Safe Mode “.
The screenshots show that the application lets you choose the number of days that you can protect yourself with this measure, but the upper limit seems seven days, and probably what we can do is choose a lower figure.
Activating it, We will also stop receiving direct messages from accounts that Twitter deems appropriate to block. From the social network they warn that because they know that the application could sometimes block accounts by mistake, it will allow automatic blocking, for which there is a section.
For now, Safe Mode will be limited to a small group of users chosen by the company, starting with accounts that have the English language setting enabled. What we can do now, if we are interested in limiting who can reply to us, for example, is to specify it when we write tweets.
