This Friday, May 2, Juan Pablo Varillas made history by qualifying for the fourth round of Roland Garros. The Peruvian tennis player defeated Polish Hubert Hurkacz, current number 13 in the ATP ranking, 3-2, and sealed his ticket to the next instance of the popular contest, where he will face none other than Novak Djokovic. As expected, Universitario de Deportes, the club he loves, paid him a tribute before the duel against Cusco FC, placing his name on the renovated board of the Estadio Monumental de Ate.

university vs. Cusco FC: what is coming
After hosting Cusco FC at the Monumental, Universitario will go into ‘Copa Sudamericana mode’. Their next match will be against Independiente Santa de Fe on Thursday, June 8 from 9:00 pm (Colombian and Peruvian time) at the Nemesio Camacho El Campín Stadium (Bogotá).
As it is remembered, the creams fell on the last cup day against visiting Goaias. For this reason, those led by Jorge Fossati cannot have a margin of error in Colombia and only a victory will fuel their dream of continuing in an international career.
The Cusqueño team, on the other hand, will close their participation in the 2023 Apertura Tournament at home against César Vallejo. Commitment scheduled for Saturday June 10 at the Inca Garcilaso de la Vega stadium.
