- It’s about the models ford fusion and the Ford Lincoln MKZ manufactured between 2013 and 2018.
- Apparently the front brake hoses are deteriorating at a much faster rate than usual, leading to fluid loss and potential braking problems.
- Ford says it will cooperate and recall all potentially involved vehicles if necessary.
In 2019, about 39 million vehicles and about 14 million motor vehicle parts were removed from U.S. roads to be analyzed for failures.
This is far more than the 19.7 million vehicles recalled in 2010.
Vehicle recalls peaked in this country between 2014 and 2016. In 2014, for example, General Motors and the Japanese company Takata (with its airbags) were the main culprits.
This is why this news involving another company in the industry should not be surprising.
Indeed, Ford Motor Co. is under investigation in the United States following a series of inspections by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (the NHTSA).
The regulatory body of that country studies the potential recall of 1.7 million Ford brand cars after receiving at least 50 reports of faulty front brake hoses.
The models involved are Ford Fusion and Fold Lincoln MKZ manufactured between 2013 and 2018.
Apparently, brake hoses deteriorate much faster than usual for this type of product, so losses and braking problems occur.
Brake hose problems on these Ford models
Ford has already recalled nearly 490,000 of these models in 2020 in the United States for similar brake hose failures.
Following the NHTSA release, Ford said it will cooperate in the investigation and recall potentially involved cars if necessary.
The NHTSA said that many complaints reported that the front brake hoses are breaking, thus leaking brake fluids, they explain in Reuters.
They assure that this happens without the drivers being able to notice it because no car alarm indicates it.
According to the US safety agency, so far only one accident is known as a result of a faulty brake hose in one of these Ford models.
