Starbucks customers complain of stomach problems after drinking the brand’s new olive oil coffee.
Complaints can be viewed at social networks, where customers have come to share their experiences with the coffee chain’s new infusion.
One example was posted on Reddit, where a current Starbucks barista uploaded a post titled “Olive Oil Drinks…” to the subreddit. r/starbucks.
There they share experiences that, supposedly, their co-workers lived after having tried the new drink called Oleato, publishes CNBC.
The new coffee has been on sale at Starbucks since February. It is a blend with Partanna cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil.
“Have you tried them? I wonder how many people have experienced the same thing as some of our work group ”, posted by Reddit editor u/MoodyStarGirl.
“Half the team drank Oleato and some end up needing to use the bathroom. I’m afraid to try it because I already suffer from stomach/intestinal problems,” she added.
The Reddit user, according to the US media, goes on to say that the manager of his cafeteria “does not allow us to share this information with customers.”
Starbucks did not respond to CNBC when asked about the episodes reported on the networks.
Starbucks and its new releases
Starbucks’ strategy, since its inception, has been based, among other things, on launching new coffee flavors to attract customers and increase sales.
The idea is introduce unique and innovative flavors according to the markets in which it is present around the world.
The goal of this strategy is to keep customers engaged and interested in the brand by offering new options.

It also launched the line of coffees Starbucks Reservewhich is made with rare and exotic beans with sustainable coffee farmers.
Beyond this, Starbucks’ strategy of launching new flavors also draws criticism. Some customers prefer traditional coffee flavors and are resistant to change.

Going back to the comments on Reddit about Starbucks olive oil coffee, some of the comments reflect impressions and experiences about the drink. “Caffeine is a stimulant for the intestines and oil is a relaxant”, wrote one. And he added: “So that’s a wonderful idea from Starbucks!”
“I tried them and felt sick to my stomach, like I had no appetite. It was the only thing I tasted all day.” said another.

Some Oleato reviews have been positive, such as one Twitter user who wrote: “Starbucks the new Oleato drink is so delicious! I love it!”.
