Three Mexican institutions stood out in the top 20 of the best universities in the Latin American region of the World University Rankings 2023 presented by Times Higher Education.
The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM)the Tecnologico de Monterrey and the Autonomous University of Sinaloa These are the three institutions in our country that stand out in the top 20 of the Latin region.
To make the list, the organization analyzed 1,799 institutions in 104 countries. It is headed by the University of Oxford, while Harvard University is in second position and the University of Cambridge is in third place.

In Latin America, Brazil dominates the top 20 with 7 educational institutions. This classification considers teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international perspective and other performance indicators.
Performance indicators are grouped into five areas: Teaching (the learning environment); Research (volume, revenue and reputation); Citations (influence of research); International perspective (staff, students and research); and Industry income (knowledge transfer).
