The exit of Spark and Beat from the Mexican market shows the reconfiguration that is being done in this industry.
Chevrolet is one of the most valuable brands in the automotive industry.
The economy car category has become one of the most popular due to the accessibility of these vehicles marketed by Chevrolet.
The announcement of Chevrolet about the departure of Spark Y Beat The Mexican market is a prelude to the changes in economic models that will be seen in the country, where the contraction in the sale of new cars was recently reported.
The figures in this regard were warned by the INEGI where inflation and the expectation of an increase in interest rates (in the opinion of specialists) have contracted the expectation of the sale of these vehicles.
In detail, it is noted that in July the automotive industry only managed to sell 82 thousand 157 new vehicles, this being a retraction of 7.4 percent compared to the previous month and an increase against the same period but of 2020 of 12.7 percent.
Two little automotive heroes come out
Spark and Beat seemed to have become the first purchase options of the Mexican consumer, when having to choose a brand in the category of economic vehicles.
The news of Beat’s departure from Mexico comes after General Motors closed its plant in Talegaon, India, thus ending the production of this vehicle, one of the most prominent in the light and economical car category.
“This fact is part of the company’s strategy to consolidate its presence at a global level, focusing on key markets and aligning itself with more dynamic segments,” commented the brand.
Along with the Beat, Spark has ceased to be produced because the automaker’s efforts have focused on vehicles such as the Aveo, Onix and Cavalier, with the Aveo being the one that has managed to remain the most in the vehicle supply.
SUV production grows
SUVs are one of the favorite models of automotive owners in Mexico and in figures from the Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry, models such as the CR-V, La Xtrail, Nissan Kicks and Trax were listed among the preferred models nationwide.
“Additionally, Chevrolet will continue to strengthen its portfolio to meet current market needs, with recent launches such as Chevrolet Tracker, Captiva and Tornado Van, as well as others that will arrive in Mexico this year such as the Chevrolet Groove subcompact SUV and the new Chevrolet Cavalier Turbo” the company explained in a statement confirming the weight of this category in the market.
More SUVs, fewer economy cars
Economical and smaller cars such as Spark and Beat against larger volume vehicles such as SUVs draw a new profile of the vehicle consumer in Mexico and how important innovation has become in this market.
The growth in consumer demand has exhibited a very important element and it is the one that has to do with the way in which today consumers are considering the vehicle as a very practical one for their lifestyles, both for space and for design with which many of these vehicles are becoming a benchmark for the consumer.
