Lynk & Co in its relationship with Cyan Racing continues to shape its project in the WTCR. After confirming the signing of the Chinese Ma Qing Hua, the Asian team has announced the renewal of Thed Björk and Santiago Urrutiapilots who will again form a couple within the Cyan Performance Lynk & Co. team identity. With this movement, Lynk & Co is one pilot away from completing its squad, so logic indicates that two-time champion Yann Ehrlacher should be in charge of closing the lineup.
At the moment, the only certainty is that Björk and Urrutia repeat as teammates and they face their third season together after starting to share a box in the WTCR since 2020. Although last season neither of them was in a real position to fight for the title at the moment of truth, their work with Lynk & Co 03 TCR was pretty good. In fact, the duo formed by the Swedish rider and the Uruguayan added two victories and a total of seven podiums throughout the sixteen races that made up the championship in 2021.
Thed BjörkWTCC champion in 2017, faces his eleventh season at Cyan Racing, a team first linked to Volvo and then to Lynk & Co: «It is incredible to continue competing with what I consider to be one of the best teams in the world.. We have everything we need to continue giving ourselves to the top. I am very happy to continue here and to do it together with Urrutia. We have a great relationship and we know our strengths. It will also strengthen the project to have Ma Qing Hua on board. She has a great experience ».
For its part, Santiago Urrutia faces his third season in the competition and in the team: «I am very happy and honored to be back racing in WTCR with Lynk & Co and Cyan Racing.. Being in the best team in the championship for the third consecutive year is a privilege. I am very happy to continue racing with Björk as a teammate, as well as having Ma Qing Hua in the team.. The personal goal for this year is to win the title And I will do my best to fulfill the team.”
Fredrik Wahlén, Head of Cyan Racing, added: “Santiago and Thed are key in the goal of defending our titles this season and we are delighted to continue with them and continue our successful cooperation. We are heading into one of the most demanding seasons I can remember and there is no rest for us as defending champions. We need to give our best in each session and in each event of the season. Of course, we intend to do it.”
