I would swear that it is not the first time that I comment here how much I want to get hooked on a multiplayer. And I would not put my hand in the fire for fear of burning myself, but it would not be unreasonable to assure that on more than one occasion I have also commented having that desired game at the tip of my fingers.
I know for good – because I am here writing instead of being addicted – that the dream of losing myself in one or another great promise ended much sooner than I would have liked. I want to believe that, this time, Halo Infinite is going to be that game.
And not because of having an excessive desire, which too, but because I see few options to see how everything that 343 Industries you have done well this time. Who was going to tell me that I would write that same thing 10 years ago.
A vote of confidence for 343
Go ahead that my esteem towards the study of Microsoft in charge of following the work of Bungie is, as in the case of The Coalition with the Gears of Epic games, limited. Neither his campaigns have managed to leave a mark on me, nor his ideas for multiplayer have particularly convinced me.
The base is what it is and in Halo 5, controversies with chests aside, they already gave a good account of what they could be able to offer when it comes to maintaining that Halo 3 spirit that for many remains flawless. We had our pluses and minuses with the progress or the choice of weapons, but by maps and pace of the games it was an undeniably fun online.
Seen during the beta of Halo Infinite It stands out that, in the face of all the rough edges that may have been generated regarding the study, the intention of 343 is to listen to the public and learn from mistakes. But yes, without mortgaging your creativity to what the mass demands.
In short, ok to go back to the origins and that all players start the same with the same weapons (probably one of the things I like the most about Halo), but also go ahead with a hook that probably would have raised more than one eyebrow if it had been put to a popular vote.
The success is in all clips and gifs the ones you’ve probably come across already. Both those of teachers of the headshot sticking blows to the head from several meters away, like the ones that swing Tarzan-style to cross the map from end to end and drive a recoil across the face of the one who shoots from afar with his rifle.
A new opponent
In a market very saturated with shooters, and in a year full of consecrated novelties such as Call of Duty or Battlefield, the arrival of Halo Infinite inevitably raises doubts. No one will be surprised to read that the franchise has lost much of that enviable bellows it had more than a decade ago.
However, it is easy to answer those who wonder what the Master Chief in that war. A simple answer for an easy question: offers something different. It offers an action and frenzy like that of yesteryear.
Shootouts that allow you to scramble and turn the encounter, mirror spirit maps that seem drawn from the best minds in CS: GO, shootouts on foot in small groups or in vehicles in the heat of war, level playing field at the start of each game and most of all, how incredibly fun it is to pull off a memorable game that combines headshots, full-face hits, and ass bombs.
And add to that appetizing menu the fact of being free-to-play. Halo I’ve always found it to be one of those games that causes some rejection among certain shooters fans, and I know for a fact that a couple of games are enough to understand what all the fuss is about. I’m looking forward to seeing that door open to a new audience.
There will be time to talk more about the excellent work that seems to be behind the game at a visual and sound level – crazy about some effects – when we can test it more in depth, but I did not want to miss the opportunity to write, once again but with a different enthusiasm, that Halo Infinite promises to be my new go-to multiplayer. Let’s see if this is the good one.
