The Witcher 3 is not coming to PS5 and Xbox Series anytime soon.
The developer CD Projekt has announced in its latest quarterly fiscal report the updated sales figures for its most recent games. Among them is The Witcher 3, which despite being a title released seven years ago, continues to record incredible sales numbers. In this way, the company has announced that the original open world action RPG of the year 2015 has exceeded 40 million units sold worldwide through April 14.
A couple of years ago, The Witcher 3 sales figures amounted to 28 million units worldwide, reflecting the stability of sales despite the passage of time. Its expansions and reissues or the arrival of Netflix’s live-action series have made The Witcher saga as a whole exceeds more than 65 million units worldwidecompared to 50 million a couple of years ago.

The arrival of The Witcher 3 on PS5 and Xbox Series is delayed
Unfortunately, everything that surrounds the saga starring Geralt de Rivia is not good news. After delaying the release of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 to 2022, CD Projekt RED has announced that the native next-gen version of the third installment of The Witcher has ended up being delayed indefinitely.
In fact, the studio will go on to develop this version in-house by the studio itself, noting that Saber Interactive, which also brought the game to Nintendo Switch in 2019, has not managed to achieve the expected work. Now, CDPR has explained that the launch of these new versions is in a phase in which “the scope of the work to be carried out” is evaluated.
We have decided to have our in-house development team conduct the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be done and thus have to postpone Q2 release until further notice. 1/2

Luckily, the saga is in a good moment. The different Netflix series will be accompanied by the new installment of the saga, an announced The Witcher cannot be considered as The Witcher 4.
