In October of last year Apple presented the iPhone with its new technology MagSafe, a magnetic wireless charging system that promised to end the hassles of wireless charging by securing the phone to the charger via the magnetic connection between magnets.
It did not take even a year for a manufacturer to bring this technology to Android, because a few days ago Realme introduced its magnetic wireless charging system called MagDart, which is the first of its kind on Android.
Magnetic wireless charging technology is positioned as one of the most interesting today, and could be the evolution of wireless charging, since it allows the phone to be charged in this way while we use it to play or watch multimedia content without it being disconnected of the charger.
But just as it happened with magnetic charging, Apple has set trends in Android after making decisions or introducing certain technologies. Here we tell you the most popular ones.
Notch fever
The iPhone X was the first Apple phone to introduce the notch to house Face ID, its facial recognition technology.
However, the first phone to use the notch was Andy Rubin’s Essential Phone, which was introduced in May 2017. But it was not until the launch of the iPhone X that many manufacturers began to use the notch with the same Apple design. , which was suddenly found in all types of phones, regardless of the fact that these will not need such a large “eyebrow” because they did not occupy infrared facial unlocking sensors.
It was until 2019 that the hole in the screen managed to become the design trend on Android.
The arrival of Touch ID
The first iPhone with fingerprint technology was released in 2013, but an Android smartphone was also the first to arrive with an integrated fingerprint reader.
The Motorola Atrix was launched in 2011 with this reader, however, its launch did not set a trend in the industry until Apple launched its iPhone 5s with this technology. After that moment, the fingerprint reader became an essential element in any smartphone on the market.
Although initially only high-end phones had a fingerprint reader, today it is common to see this component even in entry-level devices.
Because the iPhone X did not have the home button, Apple launched gesture navigation in iOS 11, a very interesting and striking idea that Google ended up integrating into Android 8.
Palm had already used an interface that was controlled by gestures in 2008, however, at that time the user was looking for something much easier to use, even Android and iOS were just taking their first steps in the market at that time.
After Android 8 was released, basically every manufacturer started playing with gestures to offer even more customization, although it took another 2 years for Google to set a standard for gesture navigation with Android 10.
Goodbye to the charger
When Apple removed the headphone port with the iPhone 7, many Android manufacturers scoffed at this decision. However, it took a few years for everyone to remove it from their best phones in favor of other components and their bet on the use of True Wireless headphones.
With the iPhone 12 the company also stopped including a charger in the packaging for the benefit of the environment, and although again there were brands that scoffed at the decision, it took only a few weeks for Samsung and Xiaomi (manufacturers 1 and 2 of the world) to take the same decision.
Each company has handled the absence of the charger differently, and although they are limited to only premium phones at the moment, Samsung has already announced that it will do the same with all its phone lines in the future, so in a few years we may not return. to see a charger in the box of smartphones.
