The surprising rise of iPhone and Apple
Apple’s rise to greatness has been simply amazing, managing to position the iPhone as the best-selling phone of all time.
Fifteen years ago, on June 29, 2007 to be exact, the first iPhone went on sale. The stakes at that time were high, however, Apple was confident in the imminent success that could be expected from a product of its manufacture.
Some media cataloged this invention as one of the greatest, using various hyperboles and other rhetorical figures to qualify this phenomenon. The bet, after more than a decade, evidently represented a resounding success.
The company that Steve Jobs brought to life introduced the iPhone, which caused intrigue six months before launch. And it is that, although compared to the apple latest edition, the first model is quite late; however, at the time it led sales because it was considered ahead of its time.
The reception denoted a clear advantage over the other competitors. However, no one could have imagined the huge media impact that would make the iPhone the best-selling smartphone.
Even after so many years, iPhone has single-handedly positioned Apple as one of the most successful companies. And not only that, some consider the iPhone as the most profitable and successful product in history.
And it is that smartphones were not new when iPhone arrived on the market. Back then, some of the most popular were the BlackBerry Curve and the Samsung BlackJack. However, these managed an executive profile, using plastic keyboards that were used to send emails.
Apple’s position has been very clear, changing the trends and concepts of how today’s smartphones are designed and manufactured. Its numbering indicates the number of functions it performs and the improvements in aspects such as the camera or even the safety of the product.
It should be noted that since its introduction to the market, the iPhone has generated more than US$1.5 billion in sales. This has made Apple, almost single-handedly by no other product, the most profitable and valuable company of all time.
And it is that the latter is surprising if we consider that iPhone, in terms of sales, is now much larger than some of the best-known companies in the world. These include of course Coke, McDonald’s, Disney and microsoft. The brainchild of Steve Jobs and Jony I has outpaced some of the biggest companies over the years.
It was in 2009 when he began to stalk the big companies, surpassing Nike, but it was in 2014 when his dominance began to take shape, managing to occupy the first place in sales among the companies shown in the graph. Despite this, today it holds 191 thousand 970 million dollars in salesthus managing to consolidate itself as one of the most valuable companies of our times.
