The first season of the adaptation to life action Netflix’s The Sandman has completed principal photography, according to the comic book writer Neil gaiman.
Gaiman provided an update on the progress of the Netflix adaptation in response to a fan question on Tumblr: Hmm. Well, we’ve finished principal photography for the first season, and now we all have to be patient while doing the visual effects and things like that, writing and recording the music, etc. He also addressed the most acclaimed question by fans, although he did not have a concrete answer: No, I don’t know any release date, not even when the trailer will be released.
The Sandman is based on the beloved horror comic series of the same name, which was first published in 1989. It follows Sueño, an immortal being who rules the dreams of mankind, with frequent detours into mythologies and legends. Due to its many fantastic elements and its wide reach, adapting it to the screen has long been considered a special challenge. Comic book readers are often opposed to any possible change in the story.
Gaiman, who is very involved in the production, commented on this challenge in his post. It feels like Sandman, He said. I don’t know if that means that people who watch TV are going to like it – although I hope so – but I suspect that if you like Sandman and want to see it on screen, you are going to like this..
To close the post, he added a note in parentheses in praise of Tom Sturridge, the relatively unknown actor who was cast in the role of Dream: I also believe that Tom sturridge will be a star after the first season of Sandman drops. Sturridge recently appeared in the 2019 film Velvet buzzsaw and received Tony Award nominations for his work on Orphans Y Sea Wall / A Life.
In addition to Sturridge as Dream or The Sandman, The Sandman Netflix’s starring Gwendoline christie like Lucifer, Kirby Howell-Baptiste like Death and many more. Netflix has yet to announce a release date, but it is expected to premiere in late 2021 or early 2022.
