Pope Francis today showed his closeness to those affected by the floods in Hidalgo, and especially to the sick and relatives of the 17 who died in the hospital of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) after the overflow of the Tula River.
The pontiff recalled the flood after the Sunday Angelus was prayed in St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican.
Due to the overflow of the Tula River, 17 patients died due to the flood in the General Hospital of Zone Number 5 of the IMSS in the state of Hidalgo.
In the facilities of this hospital there were 56 people, of which 17 died, and of them 15 were treated for Covid-19.
The authorities explained that on Monday, September 6, it began to rain around 6:00 p.m. in Hidalgo, and in 20 minutes the Tula river rose, so it overflowed and flooded the hospital.
The torrential rains caused serious flooding in Hidalgo, but also in Tultitlán, Naucalpan, Ecatepec and Coacalco.
