The compact of the brand with the four rings receives important news in this spring of 2022, and more specifically, the plug-in hybrid version of the Audi A3 40 TFSI e. The most efficient of the entire range now has a new on-board charger that significantly reduces charging times.
The Audi A3 also has a plug-in hybrid version, that of the A3 40TFSIe and that of 45 TFSI and. Two options that are the most efficient of the entire offer of the five-door compact, the A3 Sportback, also offering a very sporty behavior. But just released in 2022, the brand with the four rings has decided to implement important improvements, since the not-so-direct competition is really loaded with news, especially in the field of PHEVs.
Audi keeps intact the drive system of these two versions, which combine the 1.4-liter TFSI gasoline engine with an associated electric motor that add a total maximum power of 204 hp in the first option and 245 hp in the second. Both are equipped with a lithium-ion battery that has a net -usable- capacity of 9.8 kWh, providing energy for a maximum autonomy of 67 kilometerswith a single charge and in fully electric mode.
The Audi A3 PHEV now with a more powerful on-board charger
In addition, both offer very generous benefits. In electric mode they can roll up to a maximum speed of 140 km/h, and the most powerful version of the 45 TFSI e is capable of accelerating from zero to 100 km/h in just 6.8 seconds. But the ballast of this most efficient compact lies in the charger installed on board. Until now, it offered a maximum power of 2.9 kW connected to an AC outlet, so recharging the battery took three and a half hours.
The great novelty of these two sustainable mobility options is a significant reduction in this time, since the mounted charger is more powerful, with 3.6 kW that allows to reduce the charging time to 2 hours and 40 minutes. A significant reduction that represents 25 percent less time, and a system that works both in public chargers and in domestic ones.
Customers who purchase these plug-in hybrid options also have two option packages available, the “Ready for e-tron” and “Ready for e-tron Pro», thanks to the agreement that the German firm has with the energy provider Enel X. Available in 26 European countries, with more than 310,000 charging points, the Audi A3 PHEV can also benefit from the same charging points of the Audi e-tron through a contract and a low rate.
