A new generation that will allow it to improve in those areas where it had taken a step back from its main rivals and, ultimately, adapt to the new times and the new era in which we are entering at an accelerated pace.
Electrification will play a leading role in the range of the new 2022 Range Rover. There will be different levels of electrification in order to meet the needs of the public more or less committed to sustainable mobility. At the moment Land Rover has moved to southern Europe to carry out summer tests with those models it is working on. The new generation of the Range Rover is one such project. The exterior of the test sample is covered in dense camouflage. However, despite this, there are several details that reveal the type of mechanics that is hidden in its guts. On the left side, despite the camouflage, you can clearly see the cover that gives access to the charging socket for the battery. And what is equally important, on the windshield there is a warning sticker on which you can read the word «HYBRID».
The plug-in hybrid mechanics will throw a approximate power of 400 hp, which will place you at the level of Range Rover P400e that we can currently find in dealerships. Being supported by the new MLA platform, the Range Rover 2022 will be able to use all kinds of electrified mechanics. In addition, this platform, being a new generation and using aluminum, will significantly reduce the weight of the vehicle, which will translate into an improvement in efficiency.
The electric range of the new Range Rover PHEV
One of the great attractions of the new Range Rover plug-in hybrid will undoubtedly be its autonomy in 100% electric mode. It will be around 50 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle, which is a very solvent figure if we take into account the size of the vehicle. Under the hood will be a gasoline engine that will play the starring role of the plug-in hybrid powertrain. It will be handled through an automatic gearbox and will have a 4×4 traction system.
When will it hit the market? The landing of the new Range Rover in European dealerships will take place in the first half of 2022. From the first moment of its commercial launch, the plug-in hybrid mechanics will be available.
