Elon Musk and his relationship with Twitter workers
Last week Elon Musk closed the purchase of Twitter for 44 billion dollars. He began his role as CEO by firing the company’s board of directors and has said for months that he will cut the social network’s workforce.
Crawford elaborated on the situation at hand in a Twitter thread after the photo was criticized by followers of Musk. She said she was lucky to be one of the workers at Twitter at such a pivotal moment in technology history, noting that sometimes such a job requires sacrifice.
“I work with incredibly talented and ambitious people here at Twitter and this is not a normal moment in time. We are less than a week away from a massive business and cultural transition,” she wrote.
“People are giving it their all across functions: product, design, engineering, legal, finance, marketing, etc. We have been in the midst of a crazy public takeover for months but we are moving forward and I am so proud of our strength and resilience.”
Musk has not responded or reacted to tweets from Jones or Crawford.
