Will it be exclusive to Xbox?
Throughout these years it has been possible to see how DOOM has been one of the biggest first-person shooters in the video game industry., being in fact this saga the one that popularized them to the point that in the 90s it defined the genre that we know today. And we owe all that to id Software, the studio behind the IP that in recent years it has changed hands.
The latter is no coincidence, since with the purchase of ZeniMax and Bethesda, Microsoft also acquired the DOOM studio and thus ownership of the IPnow this company is in charge of the development of its games and, above all, to decide on which platforms the title comes out in addition to the Xbox and PC Game Pass.
Said or done, the truth is that DOOM underwent a reboot in 2016 that ended up being a successthereby giving rise to a complete innovation in the genre and DOOM Eternal was even nominated for GOTY in 2020, being another best seller even despite launching at the start of the pandemic in the West. And under this premise, it seems that A third installment would already be on the way.
A new job offer hints at the future of DOOM
In the absence of any type of official confirmation, it has been learned that there is a job offer at id Software that hints at a new installment of DOOM. In fact, the truth is that the offer could not be more subtlesince they are looking for a combat designer who have extensive knowledge in the latest id Software games, including DOOM and DOOM Eternal. That said, an extreme subtlety.
Be that as it may, despite the fact that it seems obvious, this information will have to be taken with a grain of salt until an official confirmation is given. Also, it should be noted that speculation also speaks of a Quake reboot, which could follow in the footsteps of DOOM. We will have to see if we have new news about it at E3.
