On Feb. 8, Cointelegraph released its annual Top 100 list of Most Shocking Heroes and Villains for 2023. The list is published in batches of 10, with a count of the major players in the crypto space based on their shares and headlines in 2022 and their expected impact by 2023. So far, Cointelegraph has published numbers 81-100.

The first batch started at the bottom of the list with the likes of BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes and tennis star Maria Sharapova. Cointelegraph unveiled the 81-90 rankings on Feb. 9, which include the likes of entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk and Immunefi founder Mitchell Amador. Pseudonyms even appear, such as The Crypto Dog, which ranks 83rd, and some of the profiles are ideas or technologies, such as the energy concept of green tokens, which ranks 86th.
On February 10, Cointelegraph pulled back the curtain on the 71-80 rankings, revealing names like Alex Gluchowski, CEO of Matter Labs, which had a Series C funding round raise $200 million in 2022. Gluchowski is ranked 77th on the list. Hashcash inventor Adam Back was ranked 74th. Back is the CEO of Blockstream, which set out with Block to build a battery- and solar-powered Bitcoin (BTC) mine.
This installment of the list also includes Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire, VeChain Foundation CEO Sunny Lu, and others. Compared to Cointelegraph’s 2022 Top 100 compilation, this year’s installment features mostly new faces, but there are some familiar ones as well.
Cointelegraph will launch an additional 10 profiles each day for the next few days of the week, while the final 10 profiles will follow a single release schedule.
