These are the new sanctions that the General Directorate of Traffic wants to release after the summer.
With the arrival of September, a series of new traffic regulations will also be put into play that you are going to want to know so as not to get an unpleasant surprise due to a hypothetical fine, and that is that there is a package of measures that may be approved soon in Congress of Deputies now in September and that will affect your driving.
After a first package of measures released by the DGT in February, now before the end of the year other new measures will be approved that will make our roads much safer, but that on the other hand they could send you a fine that you do not expect.
For example, in keeping with the environment and to combat noise pollution, the DGT wants to introduce penalties of € 100 for not turning off the vehicle’s engine when it is stationary, and even for repeatedly honking the horn without justification.
On the other hand, the norm will be toughened with regard to using a mobile phone while driving, and is that although before only the use of the mobile phone was sanctioned when driving, now simply by the mere fact of carrying it in the hand when driving would entail a loss of 6 points and a fine of € 100.
On the other hand, the DGT prohibits install or carry radar or jammer detection mechanisms or any other instruments aimed at circumventing or interfering with the proper functioning of traffic surveillance systems. Carrying these devices would carry a penalty in the form of the loss of 3 points on the card.
On the other hand, you will no longer be able to use those 20 km per hour higher than those that appear on conventional roads to perform overtaking maneuvers, so as of September you will no longer be able to jump the speed limit stipulated for the performance of this dangerous maneuver.
If you have an electric scooter, the DGT is studying the obligation to wear a helmet to users in this means of transport, but also in other similar personal mobility vehicles.
