Without camouflage, and with nothing to hide, this is how the new Alpina B4 Gran Coupé 2022 has made an appearance in some new spy photos in northern Sweden. The trainer from Buchloe, recently taken over by the Bavarians, faces the last phase of testing before his scheduled debut this coming spring.
It is called to be the sportiest variant of the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé, in the absence of an M version as are available in the two-door sports cars and in the convertible. A position to be filled by the new Alpina B4 Gran Coupe 2022whose prototypes have moved to northern Sweden to complete the testing program that began last summer.
But in a very different state from when it was last sighted in early fall, for in these spy photos looks so splendid and without a single camouflage sheet that dresses its bodywork. Those of the Buchloe-based tuning specialist roll with the sports saloon painted in one of the most common colors of their models, a dark green, and which we can see from all angles. Despite having the BMW logos, there are some specific details that give away the new sports sedan from ALPINE.
2022 Alpina B4 Gran Coupe Spy Photos
The first, the three letters “OAL” of its license plate, usual for ALPINA. The second, the blue brake calipers that already show the name of the German tuner and that are perfectly appreciated, and the third, the four spherical exhaust pipes in two pairs placed at the ends of the rear. Own aesthetic characteristics, in the absence of other specific details that we saw in previous prototypes and that are not appreciated in this simpler test unit but that will be in the final production model: the thin spoilers, one placed on the front bumper lip and the other on the edge of the boot lid.
ALPINA will not only offer a more aggressive aesthetic than the units equipped with the original “M Sport” sports package, but will also retouch the chassis as usual, lowering the height of the sports suspension and providing some perforated brakes front and rear. Inside, the novelties will not be so striking, beyond an adapted digital instrument panel that retains the upper visor and, therefore, it will not mount the new curved screen, a special decoration and new upholstery materials.
The Alpina B4 Gran Coupé is based on the sportiest version of the offer, that of the M440i xDrive, so it will offer a significant optimization in the 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder petrol engine. A new engine control unit will allow the maximum power rises from the 374 CV of the current top version of the range to approximately 462 CV, along with the 8-speed sports automatic transmission. Less than a hundred horses but enough to rise to the height of a desirable very sporty sedan, which will debut this coming spring.
