Last summer, the star brand launched the new Mercedes EQA 250+, a version of the electric SUV but with a more powerful battery capable of offering more than 500 kilometers of autonomy. Now the manufacturer is making changes to the model range.
Mercedes has set out to improve the range of versions of one of the 100% electric compact SUVs. Until now, the offer of the EQA It is articulated in four versions that scale in power and autonomy. However, it does not make much sense to have two versions of equal power and different autonomy in the most basic stepprecisely when what customers most demand is greater energy density and, therefore, more energy to travel more kilometres.
The basic version corresponds to the EQA 250, which has an electric motor that develops a maximum power of 190 hp and has a lithium-ion battery with a net usable capacity of 66.5 kWh. A figure that allows you to have a maximum autonomy of 493 kilometers, according to the WLTP cycle. But, in parallel, the brand released last summer the version of the EQA 250+and the one that is key in the new strategy, according to the well-informed source of «MBPassion».
More autonomy in the Mercedes EQA, an electric Premium
The new strategy makes the recently introduced EQA 250+ the access version. A version that not only has more autonomy thanks to its 70.5 kWh of net battery capacity, reaching 530 kilometers, according to the WLTP cycle, but it is also more efficient. The key is in the new generation battery mounted and weighing less than the 250. From 469 kilograms it has gone to 395 kilogramswhich lowers energy consumption.
For now, Mercedes sources have confirmed to the source that it will be a free update for a number of specific units, which there will be no cost for customers who ordered the EQA 250 and that will go into production throughout this month of October. An authorized Mercedes voice has also confirmed that both versions they will live together for a whilewhich means that the 250+ will become the access version in a few months.
