To maintain long-term profits, Meta, the parent company of Instagramdecided that users of the social network will get a “new feature” so that the show can continue: more ads.
According to a report from BGR, the company has experienced a decline in revenue due to Apple’s app tracking transparency policy and TikTok’s increased growth in number of active users.
According to information from TechCrunchMeta is introducing new Instagram ad placements “as a way to increase ad surface area as it struggles to monetize TikTok competitor Reels.”
Where will we see the ads?
We will see more announcements in the Explore home page and in the profile feed. As Instagram users know, Explore is the page people land on when they tap the magnifying glass icon in the main navigation.
In Explore, users can browse a page of suggested content or tap the buttons at the top of the screen to dive into various trends. Historically, Instagram had only placed ads on Explore within your feed, meaning when a person taps on a post and scrolls.
Now, ads are expanding globally to the Explore homepageas users spend significant time there, Instagram reported to the outlet.
Another test will be the ads on people’s profiles. So the next time you visit another user’s profile and scroll through their feed to see their photos, this experience may be interrupted by ad unitswhich are now being implemented in a global test.
Instagram will allow creators to earn additional revenue from ads displayed in their profile feeds, the only good news for a group of users.
