After last September 2, finally The Last of us: Part I is on sale for PlayStation 5. This remake is one of the most recognized and praised works in the history of video games, especially after the leap that the industry has taken in the last decade. Of course, this Naughty Dog title has made notable graphical improvements; for example with Joel and Ellie, although it also seems to take other popular references from entertainment. And yes, we are talking about the classic office from The Office that appears in a room in the game.
In fact, there have been many speculations about the latter, since fans claim that it is not a mere coincidence, but that the location of certain elements and the details in general that have been reorganized after the remake share a lot with Dunder Mifflin .
The mechanics of The Last of Us part I brings new modes
But, returning to the topic that concerns us, The Last of Us was so anticipated by PlayStation 5 users that it is not surprising that players have paid attention to even the smallest detail. In this sense, the Naughty Dog game has recreated from scratch everything that made up the original installment for PlayStation 3so in addition to its graphic improvements and updated characters, the title’s mechanics have corresponded with the great expectations of its public.
Therefore, there is no doubt that the story of Joel and Ellie, along with an environment full of tension and stealth -in addition to some narrative surprises- there are other important elements that should be mentioned.
The action game is full of options to complete the series of games that make it up. Thus, it has extra modes, unlockables and other additions that make it an exceptional title. In addition to his accessibility in terms of soundtrack, cruise and navigation aid, infinite breathingamong others, The Last of Us Part I added a photo mode with a high level of customization (where we could also prevent the characters from going wrong, with lighting and distance tools).
And to top it all off, Naughty Dog has made sure that the difficulty matches the event from start to finish, making for such a seamless and realistic narrative that players won’t want to miss out.
The smallest details also count
With the title exceeding expectations and receiving praise for its build, it’s no surprise that the less obvious features added to the game are drawing attention from fans. And among them are functional mirrors.
It seems that something as simple as the above might not be important to most fans and might even go unnoticed. However, one of them shared an image on The Last of Us subreddit showing how mirrors can be used to look around corners. Of course, it’s not only a pretty nice detail, but it’s really useful when there’s an enemy on the prowl. Certainly, the image we see is somewhat blurred, but it is a very curious element.
“It’s essentially the game world but rendered at a lower quality and resolution/frame rate. It’s expensive because any new ‘camera’ is like another instance of the game world that your machine has to render. Obviously it’s balanced so it doesn’t It’s so noticeable in-game on most moving TVs, etc. And it’s one of those classic gamedev situations where what you get in freshness outweighs the cons, so it’s still worth having.” a user as an explanation for the quality of the image.
But what seems to evidence the perspective of the Last of Us fans is the following: “This is great, but I also found quite a few reflective surfaces that do not reflect your character, which momentarily broke the immersion for me. But it is not the worst . This game is almost perfect.”
Very little time has passed since its premiere, however, it is expected that players will find other details that make the experience with The Last of Us something unique, as it has been until now. In fact, one little extra that Naughty Dog added to the title was a functional bathroom scale. So we can also know what Joel’s weight is. Or, for example, knowing his birthday by zooming in once he hands over his passport.
For now, The Last of Us: Part I is only available for PS5. But surely the PC version will not be long in coming.
