The history of the iconic Lacoste logo
The inspiration for the logo comes from a curious anecdote. René Lacoste was in Boston with his team preparing for the 1923 Davis Cup when he saw a crocodile skin suitcase that he instantly liked.
Alan Muhr, his coach, jokingly told him that he would buy him said briefcase if he won. This story reached the press and a journalist from Boston Evening Transcript he recounted the little joke in his newspaper, which gave the tennis player the nickname ‘The Crocodile’.
Years later, in 1927, a green gigi alligator with red jaws and designed by artist Robert George, would become the logo of the Lacoste brandhaving as its first product a pique polo shirt that was more casual than traditional tennis uniforms.
As you can see, the logo of the brand does not simulate a crocodile, but an alligator. Lacoste is sold in more than 120 countries around the world; It has more than 1,000 of its own stores and more than 10,000 points of sale in multi-brand stores. How about?
