The Konex Foundation presents the 6th Konex Festival of Classical Music, with the focus on the work of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and of great Russian composers. It is the return, after the impasse of 2020, of this annual festival conceived with the purpose of bringing classical music to new audiences.
Over five days, the Konex Cultural City will offer musical, ballet and children’s shows, all of them with music by Tchaikovsky and the Russian masters. The functions will be exclusively face-to-face and suitable for all audiences. By sanitary protocol, the room has a ventilation and air renewal system.
On Wednesday, November 3, the festival opens with the sextet Escalandrum, which will bring his reinterpretation of some of Tchaikovsky’s great works, Rimsky-Korsakov, Mussorgsky, Prokofiev, Shostakovich and Stravinsky. Thursday, the Camerata Bariloche will perform works by Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov and Rachmaninov.
On Friday 5, the Konex Festival will have an orchestra specially formed for the occasion and directed by the maestro Carlos Vieu, which will offer a repertoire made up of works by Borodin, and the Concerto No. 1 for piano and orchestra and the Symphony No. 4 from Tchaikovsky. The pianist Antonio Formaro will be the guest soloist.
The Tckaikovsky Festival Orchestra will also perform on Saturday, this time with the solo performance of Xavier Inchausti on violin. They will perform a repertoire made up of works by Tchaikovsky, including the Concerto for Violin and Orchestra and the Symphony No. 5.
The closing function, on Sunday 7th, will be the occasion to attend a ballet gala, with the participation of first dancers and first guest figures from the stable body of the Teatro Colón: Carla vincelli and Edgardo Trabalón; of the Stable Ballet of the Argentine Theater of La Plata: Elizabeth Antunez, Michael Klug, Romina panelo and Emanuel Gomez; and the Metropolitan Ballet of Buenos Aires: Yanina Toneatto and Ricardo Ale as a guest dancer. They will perform a selection from the famous trilogy of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky: Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and Nutcracker.
On Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th, the children’s audience will be able to attend two functions of the renowned group Go Pumpkin, which proposes a sound and visual journey into the universe of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. María decides to go on a journey in search of her godfather, magician and manufacturer Drossemelyer, an enigmatic character from Nutcracker, so you can fix your broken wrist. There you will find a haunted house that hides music and fantasy in every corner. They will perform a selection of the most famous works by Tchaikovsky.
