We are in January and there are still 9 months left for Apple to raise the curtain and see the new iPhone 12, or as they finally decide to call them. The fact is that we are in the same situation every year by these dates: a lot of information and few certainties. More or less we can know some of the improvements of the new flagships of Apple and intuit the odd feature, but there is nothing precise yet. The last thing we have known is about Face ID, the facial unlocking of the company that has traditionally been embedded in a notch of which there are still many doubts.
How will the improvement of Face ID affect the design of the iPhone 12?
The last iPhone 11 have brought considerable improvements, many of them very much wanted as the night mode of the camera or an improvement in battery. However, in the aesthetic field there has been no conformity on the part of the majority, since the front design remains identical to that of the iPhone X, a 2017 device. The notch, that tab that crosses the screen, is still present.
There are those who do not just dislike this notch, but instead they claim a change for the simple reason that it seems that you have a new mobile when you look. On the iPhone 12 it seems that this will change. Or not. We will start with the importance of the notch, and it is the Face ID that has been embedded. From Barclays, analysts Blayne Curtis, Thomas O’Malley and Baylie Harri claim that this will improve considerably.
TrueDepth sensors could be updated thanks to a new Apple component supplier. No details are specified, but it is possible that this not only goes through greater fluidity and security, even greater than the current one, but could also be related to a greater angle of capture. Remember that the latest iPad Pro there is a Face ID that works both vertically and horizontally, but it is not so on the iPhone at the moment.
Returning to the subject of the notch we wonder if it will really vary. The gurus closest to Apple hint that it will not be this year when we see its elimination , although most bet that at least it will be reduced in size . This is somewhat normal, since the mentioned sensors that it incorporates are complicated to introduce in another way, such as under the screen.
The number of new iPhone that will be this year also misleads us a bit, since there could be some more with the expected 5G technology. It will be necessary to see if all of them bring that change in the notch or if on the contrary only one or two terminals adopt it. In any case it seems that all of them will incorporate the aforementioned improvement of Face ID.
We will still have to wait a few months to start seeing more reliable renders and more compelling information. Apple tries every year to keep all the secrets of its flagship product locked, but it is inevitable that in a process involving so many agents nothing leaks along the way.
