From Google they have been modifying their ecosystem oriented to multimedia control and television for some time. A few weeks ago, the Android TV Remote app landed in the main application stores, which in territories such as Spain is integrated into the Android TV app itself. This app is focused on be able to control television and various household devices with your mobile.
In order to transform our phone into a kind of remote control, but without having to have an app developed by third parties this time, now this functionality also reaches the Google Home app to expand its use.
Following the 2021 Google I / O conference, the company made clear its goal to introduce fresh and innovative changes to the Android TV ecosystem. The arrival of Android TV Remote to the Google Home app is an addition that iOS users would benefit even more from.
In case we have an iOS terminal such as an iPhone or iPad, the same control functions could be performed as in an Android device. This would allow access to a Chromecast with Google TV, or televisions from manufacturers such as Sony or TCL, among others.
Full integration with Google Home
Although this functionality will be tremendously useful, from Google they have not yet specified when we will be able to have Android TV Remote in the Google Home app. However, from 9to5Google they have discovered that said feature would come sooner rather than later thanks to the analysis of its latest build.
From Google they mention that this function will not redirect only to the Android TV Remote app, but rather its integration in Google Home will be total in order not to harm those countries in which the first mentioned app is not available.
Currently, to use this application, it will be enough to have both the Google TV app on mobile devices and the Android TV Remote Service app updated on our television. In this way, we can enjoy an additional remote control in case of emergency, or when we are lazy to go for physical control.
