We have been with E3 in the doldrums for a couple of years now, one of the biggest video game events held in Los Angeles has suffered ups and downs due to the pandemic that we have been experiencing these last two years.
Currently, the Summer Game Fest seems to have replaced E3 at least this year 2022. Since for security reasons Saint Pierre-Louis (executive director of the ESA) has given a statement that would mean the return of the event.

The executive director of the ESA assures that the E3 will return in 2023
This is how in an interview Pierre-Louis has stated the reasons why E3 was canceled in its entirety, and those reasons were, in his words: The COVID-19 pandemic. According to the executive director, this pandemic “It has done a lot of damage to physical events over the last three years and has been a determining factor in their respective cancellations.”
In the same interview, Pierre-Louis has been asked if he has plans for E3 to return at some point, to which he has replied that he wants it to be resumed next year 2023. However, let’s not forget that it was what he said last year and that as of today there is no sign of life from E3.
For the moment, all that remains is to cross your fingers and wait to see what ends up happening with E3; if it ends up disappearing or if it is simply completely renewed.
