Lots of people are comparing Marvel Studios’ Eternals to Zack Snyder’s Justice League. But why?
Attention SPOILERS. If we read the first reviews about the film The Eternals What stands out the most is that there are many people who compare it with the version of Zack snyder from League of Justice (2021), something that is quite understandable because it has quite a few points in common.
To begin with, you have to remember that The Eternals were created by Jack Kirby in 1976. That is, just after there was a time in Dc comics. So there are many characters that look alike. Since for example Ikaris flies, has super strength and throws rays through the eyes like Superman, the powerful Thena is a warrior that looks like Wonder woman plus Makkari she’s a sprinter like Flash. So comparisons are inevitable.
More points in common.
The Eternals and League of Justice they have cosmic characters at the level of Gods and although the action takes place on Earth and in the present, what happened thousands of years ago is also important. What’s more, Zack snyder and Chloé zhao They try to give their films a tone of grandeur and solemnity, while the interaction between the characters is very important since each one has their own personality, fighting style and look.
Both films are long when it comes to the average superhero movie. Given that The Eternals lasts 2 hours and 35 minutes, while League of Justice arrived at 4 o’clock. Finally, the casts are full of Hollywood superstars, as we can see from one side to Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kit Harington, Gemma Chan or Salma Hayek and on the other hand to Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher and Henry Cavill.
So it could be totally normal if someone goes to the cinema to see The Eternals and think the movie looks like League of Justice. Although obviously the two can be enjoyed separately without any problem.
While we wait for it to arrive The Eternals to theaters, you can see the rest of the deliveries of Marvel studios on Disney Plus and League of Justice on HBO Max.
