The long-awaited “dark mode” for WhatsApp is getting closer to being a reality on the iPhone. After freeing in the beta version for Android, iOS users would only have to wait for a maximum of 10 days.
The most used instant messaging service on the planet still does not officially offer users this alternative design.
A few months ago it was discovered in the beta version that there were not one, but two types of dark mode, with more black or gray backgrounds according to the tastes of the users.
The dark theme was rolled out for a small part of iOS beta testers on a pre-release build, that will be rolled out for everyone within *10 days*.
Unfortunately some WhatsApp for iOS and Android builds aren't immediately available for everyone, and we need to wait.— WABetaInfo (@WABetaInfo) February 4, 2020
A group already has it available
Now WABetaInfo revealed, in his Twitter account, that a small group of people who are part of the “dark mode” beta for iOS already have it installed on their smartphones.
The dark theme was implemented for a small part of the iOS beta testers in a preliminary version, which will “be implemented for everyone within 10 days,” WABetaInfo said.
Unfortunately, some versions of WhatsApp for iOS and Android are not immediately available to everyone, and users should wait.
It will arrive at App Store
WABetaInfo indicated that the next version that arrives at the App Store should include the dark theme, which will be available for all beta testers.
The next WhatsApp beta for iOS will include dark mode. Apparently, the iOS beta usually advances slower than its Android counterpart.
If the prediction of WABetaInfo is fulfilled, the dark mode will be available to all beta testers in 10 days.
This is expected to be the previous step to an official launch, so it is quite likely that the dark mode will reach the official version of WhatsApp next March for all compatible iPhone.
