According to the latest official statement from GSC Game Worlds, the development of STALKER 2 has been suspended indefinitely due to the Russian military invasion of Ukraine. Naturally, the priority was keep the team and their families safe. After a month of conflict, the end of the war seems still far from over, but, according to Czech media, the development studio would be interested in moving to the Czech Republic to flee the war and be able to continue his work.
At least, that is what some Czech journalists say, such as Pavel Dobrovsky or Jiří Bigas, editor-in-chief of the specialized medium Vortex, who confirmed GS C Game World’s interest in moving to Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. “Other developers confirmed to me that GSC is really interested in Prague and that the direction of the team should have been decided by the Czech capital«, assures Bigas through his personal account of Twitter. “However, it is interesting that moving to us could potentially affect other Ukrainian studios that were interested in working in the Czech Republic,” he notes. So that it is possible that other Ukrainian studies will follow the same example.

The last thing that was known about the game is that STALKER 2 will change its name to highlight the Ukrainian culture against the Russian one. The word Chernobyl will be replaced by Chornobyl, pronunciation originating in Ukraine, in the game’s subtitle: Heart of Chernobyl. For now there is no official news about this move.
