Alien Isolation is one of the best-rated space horror games of the last generation of consoles, but it never got a sequel, despite the insistence of fans. In any case, its creators, Creative Assembly, have confirmed that they work on a new sci-fi shooter.
According to the words of the director of the study, Gareth Edmondson, and the creative director, Alistair Hope, to the latest issue of EDGE magazine (via GamesRadar), it would be a new IP in the form of FPS (first-person shooter) in which they have been working since 2018. This rules out that it is the long-awaited sequel to Alien Isolation.
Whether it’s a new IP in the gaming arena or just new IP for the Creative Assembly team, it seems to be a well-known franchise in other media. Hope says the team’s intent with this project is “attention to detail and authenticity” and is committed to “understand the source material”we just don’t know what source material that is.
Despite the fact that since Alien Isolation he has focused almost exclusively on the genre of real-time strategy with games like Halo Wars or Total War, there are many expectations to see what he can bring to the science fiction FPS after Alien Isolation. “It’s our new intellectual property and it’s a world that we’re creating and of course we’re wringing our hands and we really want to get it rightadds Rob Bartholomew, product manager. “We want to understand what authenticity looks like in a blue ocean or open sky, when you have a blank page in front of you.”
