You are already a certain age and remember when the original version of Myst was released for Macs of the time. In 2021 their graphics seem like a joke, but in their day they surprised and laid the foundations for the three-dimensional games that would come later. Now Cyan Worlds has created a new remastered version of Myst, optimized for Macs with an M1 chip.
The M1 chip manages to improve performance by 50% compared to the version for Intel
As you can see in the video above, graphics have been updated with the Metal 2.1 engine and the game has more movement than ever. If you do not know, Myst is one of the first games in the style point and click of the story, in which you must solve puzzles and mysteries by moving around a small island.
Myst also becomes one of the first games optimized for the M1 chip, achieving a 50% graphical performance increase. Until now only World of Warcraft was native to the M1 chips, with the rest of the games running under Rosetta. It also runs on Intel chips, as long as we have a modern enough Mac to do it (the oldest possible are those from the years 2018 and 2019).
You can download this new version of Myst from the Mac App Store or from Steam. The price is the same in both stores, 29.99 euros, and you will need version 11.5 of macOS Big Sur to be able to run it.
