- Teva México held the first edition of the “Humanizing Health Award 2022”.
- It is an initiative to reward initiatives that positively change the quality of life of patients and caregivers.
- The four award-winning associations are: Cedidown IAP, AMANC IAP, Fundación Mark and Fundación Ser Humano.
To reinforce the work of hospitals and clinics, there are civil health associations. The objective of each one is to support people who suffer from a disease to achieve their recovery. While a very important aspect is that her work is altruistic because economic benefits are not the purpose that motivates them.
With this in mind, Teva México made its first delivery of the “Humanizing Health Award 2022”. The initiative seeks to recognize solidarity projects carried out by civil society and non-profit institutions that contribute to improving the quality of life of patients suffering from different types of diseases.
For this first edition, four projects that stand out for their approach were recognized and awarded:
- Humanize patient care, both in the home and hospital settings.
- Increase patient adherence to treatment.
- Promote prevention and education about diseases, as well as access to therapies, treatments and advice.
Process to choose the winners
In June of this year, the call was launched to invite the civil health associations to participate. In response, there were 19 initiatives, which were evaluated by the Humanizing Health committee, who selected 10 projects that were presented to the Teva management team. In the end, 7 finalists were selected and the employees voted for three winners. The doctors were invited to vote for the fourth winner.
The winning associations
Cedidown IAP Association – Routes
Cedidown is a nonprofit association of people with Down syndrome, parents, family members, and care professionals. They have a center specializing in the care of babies, children, and young people with Down syndrome.
Its central objective is to promote the optimal development and autonomy of babies, children and young people with Down syndrome, as well as promote the exercise of their rights and inclusion in society and contribute to their quality of life.
The initiative they presented
individual therapy. Therapeutic services that seek to strengthen skills and abilities in order to contribute to healthy neurodevelopment.
Social skills workshop. As its name says, this is a group training workshop for the acquisition and exercise of communication, integration and social participation skills.
AMANC – Mexican Association to Help Children with Cancer, IAP
Since 1982, the Mexican Association to Help Children with Cancer, IAP (AMANC) is the first institution in the country, and the only one with a national presence, to provide comprehensive support to children and adolescents with cancer.
Its objective is to reduce psychopathological symptoms and promote protective factors for coping and resilience in order to increase the quality of life of children and adolescents undergoing cancer treatment through therapeutic game techniques.
The initiative they presented
Develop coping and resilience tools in children and adolescents undergoing cancer treatment through the use of recreational spaces.
Generate adequate care and recreation spaces that help girls, boys and adolescents to express feelings and release tensions caused by cancer treatment.
Provide psychoeducation to primary caregivers to promote family coexistence through play.
Mark Foundation – To make them smile
On February 22, 2006, the Mark Foundation was established before the Private Assistance Board of the State of Mexico; Sonia Zuani, today president of the Mark Foundation, gives life to her son’s dream, fulfilling the legacy of love and service that he himself envisioned.
The objectives of the foundation are to disseminate information and knowledge that contribute to mental health education for children and adolescents with cancer.
Provide educational opportunities that provide girls, boys and adolescents with cancer with useful knowledge for their return to school and work tools.
Contribute to the development of balanced and constructive relationships in children and adolescents with cancer to lead a dignified and healthy life under the foundations of inclusion and equality.

It is a non-profit Civil Society Organization, with 30 years of work in AIDS care.
At Fundación Ser Humano, they care for Boys, Girls, Adolescents, and Youth living with HIV/AIDS. Their job is to provide them with medical, dental, psychological, and social assistance, as well as food, clothing, education, sports, recreation, art, culture, and love!, important for the development of their human potential and the acquisition of life skills.
Its guiding objective is to contribute to reducing the social impact of HIV infection and AIDS in human beings in Mexico.

The civil health associations creditors of the “Humanizing Health 2022” recognition will receive a prize of 150,000 pesos for the differentiating initiatives and in line with the philosophy of the prize.
