Audi has announced an important update with improvements for the range of its new 100% electric SUV. Both the Audi Q4 e-tron and its coupé alternative, the Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron, face the year 2022 with new features in terms of connectivity and, more importantly, in charging times.
The Ingolstatd firm is determined to boost sales of both electric SUVs and for this, the incorporation of new functions is decisive. Let’s go into detail and review all the novelties that land in the range of the Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron models.
Shorter charging times for the Audi Q4 e-tron
Have been reduced load times in the most powerful versions of the Q4 e-tron range. An improvement that specifically affects models equipped with the 82 kWh battery (76.6 kWh net). A battery that can be found in the Q4 40 e-tron and Q4 50 e-tron quattro, as well as in their corresponding Q4 Sportback e-tron versions.
All these versions will be able to charge the battery with a power of up to 135 kW. The time needed to recharge the battery from 5% to 80% is reduced to just 29 minutes on Q4 40 e-tron and Q4 Sportback 40 e-tron models. In the case of the Q4 50 e-tron quattro and Q4 Sportback 50 e-tron quattro, the time needed rises to 36 minutes, respectively.
How has it been possible to make this improvement? Audi has developed a software update that makes it possible to optimize the battery’s thermal control and management systems. It should also be noted that through the myAudi application we will find new charging functions. Now the route planner automatically schedules the necessary stops based on traffic conditions and taking into account the driver’s individual consumption profile. Another built-in function is to set a charging target to receive a notification when it is reached.
The integration of the virtual assistant Alexa with Audi connect
On the other hand, and in terms of connectivity, it is important to underline that, thanks to the integration of Alexa, Amazon’s virtual assistantthe Audi connect system now allows drivers to manage calendar or to-do lists by voice, as well as control compatible smart home devices from the vehicle.
The vehicle can make an automatic emergency call in the corresponding national language thanks to the Audi connect Emergency call & Service system. It is key to helping direct emergency services to the right place. Roadside assistance can be activated manually by pressing the call button located on the roof.
The infotainment offer is completed by the largest screen used to date in an Audi brand vehicle. The MMI touch system, with a 11.6-inch screen, is part of the MMI pro (standard) and MMI plus packages.
The Black line edition and the black plus optical package
Last but not least, mention should be made of the black plus optical package which further accentuates and personalizes the dynamic styling of the Q4 e-tron. Black accents in the grille area, as well as the black Audi rings and grille surround, allow the front end to stand out. Both bumpers also include black design elements, as do the side window moldings. In addition, all Q4 e-tron models are now available in black body colour. A tone that was reserved until now for the special edition one.
