The South Korean firm has presented new technologies related to gaming during the Samsung Developer Conference this year. And is that The company announces that the HDR10 + standard will accompany video games both on consoles and in the cloud.
The HDR10 + is a technology already present in Samsung televisions and that is activated when we play some content compatible with it. The universal alternative to this is Dolby Vision, which has also featured solutions for console gaming for some time. Now from Samsung have confirmed that their technology will also be compatible with the latest video game platforms.
HDR10 + on next-gen consoles
As stated by the company, this HDR10 + will be accompanied by three important elements when playing video games: VRR (variable refresh rates), HDR autocalibration and tonal mapping processes on low latency sources.
The FlatpanelsHD portal ensures that the self-calibration technology that will come along with this feature would be based on HGiG (HDR Gaming Interest Group), a group made up of numerous television manufacturers, including Samsung, and that was founded by Sony and Microsoft to improve HDR on their consoles.
As for its tonal mapping technology, it is a feature that focuses its efforts on not adding more latency in the game when applying all these processes. For this, from Samsung they indicate that have developed zero latency architectures for their technologies.
Availability
According to Samsung gaming in HDR10 + will support frequency rates up to 120 Hz. The first televisions to include this technology will arrive in 2022, although it is unknown if those that already have HDR10 + compatible panels will offer this support through updates.
