The Aiways U5 is a new 100% electric SUV that aims to capture a significant bulk of the sales of these models in Europe. A strategy in which it aspires to everything, and not only with a modern design inside and out, but also because of its Camper aptitude.
The Airways U5 is a real newcomer to Europe, where he plans to turn the market for electric SUVs. The Asian firm spares no resources to stand up to the competition based on the Old Continent, a role that is not easy at all but that it intends to conquer with design, technology and equipment.
It is enough to take a look at the exterior of the new U5 to verify that the first quality is manifestly real, betting on avant-garde features that leave the stylistic canon of the rivals. And of course, also inside. Minimalism reigns alongside a large interior space and an important technological load. But those of Aiways do not give up other more playful possibilities with the electric SUV, also betting on the philosophy Camper.
The Aiways U5 combines with the VanLife philosophy
The brand has teamed up with the specialists at Campwerk to fit a pop-up tent on top of the U5’s roof panel. An optional equipment known as «iKamper Skycamp 3.0“, with space for two occupants and which is accessed through an aluminum staircase. It is built with light materials but resistant to temperatures and water.
A perfect solution for lovers of nature and ecology, contributing to the zero emission journeys of the U5, which has a maximum range of up to 410 kilometers on a single charge, and feeding an electric motor that offers a maximum power of 204 CV. A very interesting option, despite having a single electric motor, but with immediate power delivery, although in the future the firm will expand the range with two electric motors and all-wheel drive, as well as new models.
Alexander Klose, CEO of Aiways, explained that “Camping is a growing market industry. The last two years have proven that having your own four walls on your own four wheels is the perfect vacation opportunity for many. With the combination of our Aiways U5 and the iKamper Skypcamp roof top tent, we want to show what a sustainable microcamping can look like.”
