Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, has revealed that Apple is working on new MacBook models that could be announced during 2023 or 2024. The journalist highlighted a new generation of 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with the possible M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. He also revealed the possible return of the 12-inch models, although without making it clear if it would be a standard version, like the one the company announced in 2015, or a Pro variant. Now, the twitter user Majin Bu, who usually leaks information about future Apple products, suggests that the version of the model with a 12-inch screen will indeed be a Pro variant.
Majin Bu says in a tweet that the supposed 12-inch MacBook Pro should arrive in 2023 and that while processor models are not known, eIt would be equipped with the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. That is, the chips that would renew the M1 Pro and M1 Max. This more compact model, therefore, will be part of the same line as the 14- and 16-inch versions, which the company could also announce over the next year.
In this way, the strategy will be somewhat different from what Apple has done this 2022. The company presented a 13-inch MacBook Pro at WWDC 2022. However, this is not in the same range as the current 14-inch and 16-inch models with the M1 Pro and M1 Max chip. This is because it includes an M2 chip, slightly inferior in performance to the Pro and Pro Max versions of Apple’s SoCs.
The M2 Pro and M2 Max chips will accompany the 12-inch MacBook Pro
It’s still early days for details on the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, but they are likely to improve performance and power efficiency considerably over the current models. We also do not know what the design of the supposed 12-inch MacBook Pro could be.. This team, remember, was announced seven years ago with an ultra-thin design. Today’s MacBooks, on the other hand, opt for greater thickness to include ports necessary for professionals.
The leaker “Majin Bu” also recently revealed that Apple is working on a 14.1-inch iPad Pro with a miniLED display. A rumor that later confirmed Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultant. “The 14.1″ iPad Pro is confirmed to be under development with our supply chain sources. It will have MiniLED and ProMotion. I’m not sure of the date, but it’s likely to be early 2023,” the analyst said in a tweet.
