The roads are full of signs and most of them are well known. However, from time to time we find one of which we do not know its meaning. These 11 that we bring you today are probably some of them.
There are innumerable types of traffic signals that warn of imminent danger, establish limits or prohibit manoeuvres. There are also those that are merely informative or that are satisfied with making recommendations to the driver.
Not in vain, the signal system of the General Directorate of Traffic is enormous and practically endless. And, although you have to study them to pass the driving test, the truth is that it is really difficult to know them all. And it is that I bet that some of which we are going to see next you had never seen them.
The unknown signs

The drivers of the vehicles that carry this sign on the rear indicate to the rest of the drivers that cannot drive at a speed greater than 40 km/h. In this way, an attempt is made to avoid the surprise effect that a large difference in speed can cause when approaching it.
2. Long vehicle signal (V-6)
We also see this signal located at the rear of the vehicles, in this case those that have a length greater than 12 meters. Thanks to it, the other drivers know that, in case of starting an overtaking, they must have a greater margin than normal to complete it.
This is a catadioptric signal that is placed centered with respect to the axis of the vehicle. In cases where this is not possible, it can be replaced by two plates, installed symmetrically in relation to the axle and as close as possible to the edges of the vehicle.
3. Public service signal (V-9)
The inscription SP indicates that the vehicle that bears it is intended for public service, that is, an activity that requires the authorization of the Public Administration. It should be placed front and back.
4. Test or research plate (V-12)
The V-12 type signal indicates that the vehicle carrying it is carrying out special tests or some research essay on the road.
Thanks to this signal, which can be requested by vehicle manufacturers, bodybuilders and official laboratories, said vehicle can exceed the speed limits or carry other cargo vehicles or equipment that are necessary to carry out the tests.
This signal is carried by vehicles that have been designated for shared use and must be placed in the upper corner of the left windshield or in another conspicuous place.
