This weekend, the influencer and promoter of craft work in Mexico luz valdez He published a video on his social networks where he denounced the harassment by members of the Poder Prieto collective. This for demanding that credit be given to an artisan artist from Michoacán.
The content creator said on April 6 that the company Los Hijos del Maíz altered a handmade rebozo, the work of the teacher Feliciana Bautista and sold it to the Mexican actor tenoch orchard without giving recognition.
The cultural promoter pointed out that the artist was not informed what would be done with her garment. Huerta wore the altered rebozo in late February 2022 during fashion week in Milan.
@luzvaldezmx Replying to @fanel_reyes I’m glad they already put their names in the post but everything else is very bad. #artesanos ♬ Suspenseful and tense orchestra(1318015) – SoLaTiDo
Harassment by members of Poder Prieto
However, on April 7, Luz Valdez denounced having been attacked by members of the group dark power, to which Huerta belongs. Los Hijos del Maíz, a company that was an intermediary for the sale of the garment, apologized to the artisan and gave credit to her work, but Valdez was attacked by members of Poder Prieto.
In a tweet, Valdez pointed out that: “Poder Prieto is defending those involved with the argument that: The artisan did not ask for the credit.”
Poder Prieto is a collective that seeks to eliminate systemic disadvantages against people of color.

The influencer pointed out that since she published her video asking for credit for the artisan, she has been receiving threats and attacks from supposed members of the collective who sought to discredit her work.
The case went viral on TikTok and Instagram over the weekend. Both Poder Prieto and Los Hijos del Maíz came out to apologize to Luz and Feliciana.
The group even mentioned that it separated those responsible for its social networks from their functions.
Tenoch Huerta launches a response to the controversy
The Marvel actor released a statement on March 8 in which he explained what had happened and where he stood.
“In September 2022 I wore a cape at Milan Fashion Week that was designed for me, which filled me with pride. […] the brand that approached us made errors in the process, traceability, there were intermediaries and much of the information provided was not verified first hand; That led to errors on their social networks, errors that they have corrected and publicly accepted,” the actor wrote.
Huerta remarked that there are currently many intermediaries between producing artisans and buyers “who do not give the credit they deserve.”
Regarding the harassment of Luz Valdez, the Namor interpreter mentioned that “there was mismanagement on social networks, with unfortunate messages, without full knowledge of the case, unclear, written from the gut and not from the heart” against the cultural promoter.
He stressed that he had not found out before what was happening in the group to which he belongs because he was working:
“Personally, I found out late and despite not having been aware of the events, nor when and how they occurred because I was working, I am part of a group that is valuable to me and I cannot ignore what happened. It was wrong and it only affects our fight, we definitely have to meditate and correct it.”
Finally, Tenoch Huerta remarked that he will be more careful when choosing artist collaborations to take care of the artisans.
