USDT joins Toncoin and Bitcoin
The integration of Tether is added to the other two cryptocurrencies that the application already had, such as Bitcoin (BTC) and Toncoin (TON), which were listed in April of last year. It is believed that Telegram will continue to work on further adding cryptocurrencies to its offer.
“The integration of cryptocurrency payments into messaging apps like Telegram, theoretically making sending cryptocurrency as easy as sending a text message or a photo, should be an extremely positive development for mainstream adoption.”, highlighted the site CoinDesk.
What separates USDT from Bitcoin or Toncoin is that its price does not change and is always 1:1 with respect to the US dollar. In this way it will be very easy to send/receive, only paying the commission that Telegram charges today. Although it is high for the cryptographic world, it is not so high for companies that work with remittances.
Toncoin and its relationship with Telegram
Those who are not very familiar with the crypto ecosystem may be hearing about the Toncoin cryptocurrency for the first time. This, although it is not currently directly involved with Telegram, does maintain great interest from the community. Its price is $2.41 dollars per unit, being No. 23 by market capitalization ($2.9 billion dollars).
Toncoin was born as a Telegram project called Open Network (TON), but in 2020 it was abandoned after legal battles with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Since then, a group of crypto enthusiasts calling themselves The TON Foundation have taken over.
Telegram continues to strengthen its commitment to the digital asset community, and the arrival of USDT could further revolutionize the app. This introduction is expected to generate interactions and a lot of volume in the days to come.
